I’d call Ann Coulter a cunt, but she lacks the warmth and depth.

Rant of the day:
The American psyche is so fucked. We have this romanticized notion of the individual. It’s part of our history: the cowboy, the pioneer, the explorer. Except it’s a fucking fairytale. This fetishization of American exceptionalism doesn’t help either. We’ve been told we’re great just because, yet no one spouting that inane rhetoric neither bothers looking at our past nor at our present. We spent a better part of the 20th century realizing that there was no weakness in taking care of each other. And then Bush fulfilled Reagan’s dream and we’ve now decided that placing the needs of those who have the most above those that have the least is not only the best policy, but is somehow morally preferable. The hero to be emulated used to be the person who worked hard, supported their family, and succeeded. Now it’s the venture capitalist that makes a quick buck, regardless of who it affects. It’s why this upcoming election is going to prove so crucial. In a way we are being asked what kind of country we want to be through the nominee we vote for. Who we want to emulate most. Obama may be deeply imperfect, but when compared to the amorphous blob of moral convictions and deification of the wealthy that is Mitt Romney, I hope this country decides that we need to keep going with the former.
Mitt Romney, seen here threatening your sick grandma, thinks we have way too many teachers, firefighters, and cops in the country.
Romney said of Obama, “he wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”
…..
This time, however, Romney deserves points for honesty: He has forthrightly declared that the class of government workers holding back other Americans does include cops, firefighters and teachers. And in so doing, he has singlehandedly reframed the debate from one over despised government bureaucrats to one over whether we should hire more cops, firefighters and teachers to get the economy going. This is a debate the White House will be happy to have.
It’s rare that a Republican comes out and actually lets people know they fantasize about destroying the middle class, attacking the people that enrich and protect our local communities, and pay for the economic disasters that they createdon the backs of the working class.
Joe Biden bringing it in Ohio.
“They Don’t Get Us” should be thrown at Romney and his ilk at every possible opportunity in the next six months.
The House voted Thursday to override steep cuts to the Pentagon’s budget mandated by last summer’s debt deal and replace them with spending reductions to food stamps and other mandatory social programs.
While doomed in the Senate and opposed by the White House, the legislation, which would reduce the deficit by $243 billion, is a Republican marker for post-election budget talks with the White House.

Speaker of the House John Boehner - seen here weeping for helpless defense contractors - just passed a bill to pay for for defense spending increases by cutting funding for starving children.
As the spectacular MaddowBlog sums up:
Today’s measure is nothing short of brutal, slashing food stamps, nearly eliminating job-training programs, eliminating health care subsidies, slashing the child tax credit, and taking school meals from 200,000 low-income children.
Or, in other words:
The GOP isn’t just giving the appearance of cruel villains, they’re fighting to literally take food away from poor children to avoid cutting a massive Pentagon budget by even a penny.
Disgusting.
Video from The Rachel Maddow Show where she documents the President’s endorsement of marriage equality, his Administration’s historic record on LGBT rights, and Republicans’ ever increasing and endlessly horrifying homophobia.
She is serving some educated perspective realness right here.
An absolute must watch for supporters and cynics alike.
Republicans have blocked debate on the Buffett Rule, further demonstrating their base fetishization of “Oliver Twist” and the Gilded Age.
Even though 72% of Americans support the measure.
Tennessee Senate Approves Bill To Warn Students That Hand-Holding Is A “Gateway Sexual Activity”
Last week, the Senate passed SB 3310, a bill to update the state’s abstinence-based sex education curriculum to define holding hands and kissing as “gateway sexual activities.” Just one senator voted against the legislation; 28 voted in favor.
Since the bill specifically bans teachers from “demonstrating gateway sexual activity”, educators would be prohibited from even demonstrating what hand-holding is.
